Thought of visiting airoli to catch the blue throat and really a great day as we succeeded in spotting the blue throat and also got some good pics. Thanks to Julius, the birdman of Airoli. While I was photographing the stone chats, Julius called out in excitement as the blue throat made its appearance.
On seeing us the bird just went back into the mangroves.
Both of us then went ahead and sat down in the grass with the camera ready to roll. After a few minutes of silence, the b lue throad made its appearance foraging the grass for its breakfast. Alongwith the blue throat , two prinias and stone chat were fighting for breakfast. It was a wonderful sight and we got our share of pictures at close quarters.
At the holding pond we saw spot billed ducks and then proceeded to our usual trail...whichhas now been vandalised by some Babas who had their program in airoli. The entire marshes and grassland has been wiped out by merciless flattening of the area for putting up shamiana to hold their lectures! \\despite this we could spot the blue throat,
common kingfisher, stone chats, siberian bush chat, drongos, rosy pastors, long tailed shrikes .Some of the pictures from today's trail. Pl post your comments thanks subbu
